Huma first turned to yoga to manage the excruciating chronic pain in her jaw, insomnia and stress due to the demands of her corporate job as the founder and CEO of a national communications company. Once she experienced the healing powers of yoga, she decided to become a yoga teacher enabling her to share yoga’s benefits with those looking to alternative heath treatments, manage their stress or sharpen their cognitive ability. Yoga has helped her quiet the white noise in her overactive mind and to re-discover her creativity and connect to her true passions. She is more aware of the quality of each moment and more appreciative of the power of “now”. She embodies yoga’s benefits both physically and spiritually and practices on a daily basis. This allows her to show up as an authentic teacher and guide to her students on their journey to wellness and transformation. As BKY Iyengar put it” Yoga does not change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees.” Being a former competitive swimmer, Huma draws both from her experience as an elite athlete as well as her background as an artist to ensure her yoga classes address the physical and spiritual needs of her students. Huma’s continued studies in yoga therapy, safe alignment and her in-depth knowledge of anatomy allows her to approach her teaching with great knowledge and mindfulness.

Huma obtained her 500-hour yoga teacher/yoga therapy training (RYT500 and YTRX 500-C) certification studying with leading medical doctors, yoga therapists and visionary pioneers in the yoga world at Loyola Marymount University’s Advanced Clinical Yoga Therapy Program (level 1, 2 and 3). This first and only university accredited program in Yoga Therapy in the United States integrates western medicine with 2000-year-old yoga tradition and has greatly influenced Huma’s teaching. Prior to this, she completed her RYT200 certification with True Flow Yoga in Newport Beach.  With over 1000 hours of teaching experience Huma has E-RYT 200 accreditation.
